The official word on this is:
SRDB ID: 19452
SYNOPSIS: Hotjava keeps coming up with CDE login
DETAIL DESCRIPTION:
Every time I login to CDE a HotJava window comes up. I set my home session without it and it still comes up. It doesn’t happen to root
SOLUTION SUMMARY:
There is a script /usr/dt/config/Xsession.d/1000.solregis that tries to force the user to register.
To disable for one user:
touch ${HOME}/.solregis/disable
There are two easy ways to globally disable registration:
Just pkgrm SUNWsregu. (An installation could set up jumpstart to leave this package out.)
Create a file called /etc/default/solregis, containing the one line:
DISABLE=1
